Private ADHD Assessment Process

Step 1

Booking an Appointment

  • For an online private ADHD assessment, visit our online booking page to book an appointment instantly.
  • For a face-to-face private ADHD assessment, please contact us by phone or email. Our clinic is located at 10 Harley Street in Central London, and our team will assist you in arranging a convenient appointment time.

Step 2

Pre-Appointment Questionnaires and Documentation

  • Prior to your assessment, you will receive pre-appointment questionnaires to complete.
  • These questionnaires will, among others, include an observer questionnaire, where a close family member or friend can provide insights into your childhood ADHD symptoms. (Alternatively, you may choose to submit school reports or other relevant documentation for review).

Step 3

60-Minute Assessment Session

  • Your assessment session will last approximately 60 minutes. However, the clinician will pre-analyse the submitted questionnaires, ensuring they are well-informed about your case before the assessment.
  • During this session, you will meet with our experienced clinician, who specialises in ADHD.
  • The assessment will be based on diagnostic tools recommended by NICE guidelines.
  • The clinician will make a diagnosis based on the gathered data, as well as a detailed history and current symptoms discussed during the assessment.
  • The diagnosis will be clearly communicated to you, along with any recommended treatment.
  • After the appointment, you will receive a detailed report. You will be sent a link by email, which will enable you to download the report.

Step 4

Treatment Plan

  • During the assessment, a personalised plan will be created based on your individual needs.
  • This plan may include psychological support, lifestyle guidance, and other clinically recommended interventions.
  • If medical treatment is appropriate, this will be discussed with you in detail
  • Ongoing support will be available throughout your care to ensure the best possible outcome.

Step 5

Follow-Up Appointments

  • A follow-up appointment will be scheduled to monitor your progress and adjust treatment as needed.
  • This appointment ensures ongoing support and optimisation of your ADHD management plan.

Step 6

Shared Care Agreement (SCA) for GP Involvement

  • Upon completion of the titration period, we can facilitate a Shared Care Agreement (SCA) to be sent to your General Practitioner (GP).
  • The SCA outlines the agreed-upon treatment plan and responsibilities between our practice and your GP.
  • If accepted by your GP, they can take over ongoing treatment and management as part of your regular healthcare.
  • If your GP is unable to accept the SCA, we can continue your care privately to ensure consistent access and ongoing support.

Step 7

Ongoing Monitoring and Support

  • Regardless of whether your GP accepts the SCA or your care remains with our practice, we are committed to providing ongoing monitoring and support.
  • A follow-up appointment can be scheduled to assess treatment effectiveness, address any concerns, and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Our team is here to support you every step of the way on your journey towards managing ADHD effectively and improving your overall well-being.
  • We offer psychoeducational sessions to help you and your loved ones better understand ADHD and its impact on daily life.
  • Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge, skills, and support needed to thrive in all areas of your life, whether through medical or holistic approaches.

At our practice, we are committed to providing comprehensive ADHD assessments and tailored treatment plans to support your well-being and success.

Titration process
Titration is the process of safely adjusting treatment levels to find the right balance between effectiveness and tolerability. This includes:

  • Regular follow-up reviews (usually every 2–4 weeks)
  • Monitoring of symptoms, side effects, and progress
  • Adjustments to dosage if needed

Each titration follow-up session is charged separately.
Please refer to our Fees page for current pricing.

Shared Care Agreement (SCA) – Free of charge

Once you are stable on medication, we will write to your GP to request a Shared Care Agreement. If your GP accepts, they can take over prescribing on the NHS.

We recommend annual or biannual reviews with our clinic to ensure ongoing support and safe prescribing.

Patient Stories

private adhd assessment at private psychiatry

I had my adult ADHD assessment with Private Psychiatry and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The booking process was straightforward, communication was clear, and everyone I spoke to was kind and professional. The clinician took real time to understand my history and current challenges, and I felt genuinely listened to throughout the process.

The online appointment was very convenient and everything ran smoothly. The report I received was detailed and easy to understand, giving me clarity and practical next steps to move forward.

Overall, I felt fully supported and cared for. The whole experience was professional, compassionate and thorough. Thank you to the entire Private Psychiatry team for your warmth and understanding. I would highly recommend them to anyone considering a private ADHD assessment.

Private Psychiatry Patient

I recently had a private ADHD assessment with Private Psychiatry and the experience was excellent from start to finish. The support throughout the process was fantastic and very well organised. After waiting a long time with the NHS, I decided to go privately, and that was the best decision I could have made. It was absolutely worth every penny.

The doctor was compassionate, understanding, and clearly very experienced in the field of ADHD. I felt listened to and taken seriously, which made a huge difference. Everything was explained clearly and I never felt rushed. I am very grateful for the care I received and would definitely recommend Private Psychiatry to anyone considering a private ADHD assessment.

Private Psychiatry Patient

A truly caring, empathetic and professional team. From initially talking to Lottie (PA) to meeting with Consultant Bruna, I felt in safe hands. What would have taken years on NHS took weeks with Private Psychiatry.

It comes with being a consultant, I know, but Bruna is clearly an expert in her field and had my full trust immediately. During the consultation Bruna listened and reassured me that I was in safe hands, and that the barriers I’ve been facing for so long were symptoms of neurodivergence, not me feeling that I was broken or “just didn’t get it”. It was such a relief. I’m now on the right medication and the difference is like night and day. I’m alert, present-in-the-moment and more alive.

Lottie is a super star! I had been looking around for the right private ADHD specialists and from that first initial enquiry I knew I’d found the right place for me: a place that cared for me and not in it for the money. Lotties very understanding and helpful.

I can’t praise this team enough, they’ve helped me take control of my symptoms and build a better me.
