At your first appointment, you will be seen in our consulting rooms by one of our experienced consultant psychiatrists. Here you will have the opportunity to discuss your concerns in detail in a relaxed and secure environment. You may, if you wish and if appropriate, take a friend or relative with you into the consultation room.
The consultant psychiatrist will undertake a thorough assessment of your problems and propose a plan to treat and manage them. This initial assessment takes about an hour and your consultant will discuss the next steps and your treatment plan with you. All consultations are completely confidential.
Where required, further investigations and tests will be arranged. Regular follow-up reviews will be arranged at appropriate intervals. Follow-up appointments are usually for half an hour although longer appointments are available if you and your consultant agree that is necessary.
Our consultants are able to issue private prescriptions if they feel you would benefit from medication, or we can contact your GP to request an NHS prescription.
Download a copy of our Patient Guide for further details of how we work.
If you require psychological help or talking therapies, we will be happy to arrange sessions with a suitable therapist.
We can recommend a variety of therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), counselling, hypnotherapy, drama therapy, Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), addictions therapy, group therapy, psychotherapy, anxiety management and anger management.
In some instances it may be more appropriate to treat mental health problems in hospital. If you require admission to an inpatient ward, you can be admitted to the Capio Nightingale Hospital in London, Priory Hospital Hayes Grove in Bromley, Kent or Priory Hospital in Chelmsford, Essex.
I am relieved to have found Private Psychiatry. I only wish I had come to you sooner.

My psychiatrist makes me feel at ease. I can open up and truly tell him how I feel. I have learnt relaxation techniques so that I can cope with my panic attacks when they occur. Everyone who works at Private Psychiatry is excellent.
